คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives)

คำคุณศัพท์ หรือ Adjectives คือคำที่บอกคุณลักษณะของคำนาม คำสรรพนาม ให้มีความชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น

ประเภทของ Adjectives
1. Quality adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกคุณภาพ เช่น
            good ดี bad เลว ไม่ดี
            happy ความสุข rich รวย
            strong แข็งแรง sweet หวาน
            pretty น่ารัก ugly น่าเกลียด
      He is a good boy.

2. Nation adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกเชื้อชาติและภาษา เช่น
            Thai คนไทย ภาษาไทย
            Chinese  คนจีน ภาษาจีน
            English คนอังกฤษ ภาษาอังกฤษ
            American คนอเมริกัน ภาษาอเมริกัน
            Japanese คนญี่ปุ่น ภาษาญี่ปุ่น
            French คนฝรั่งเศส ภาษาฝรั่งเศส
      They are American students.
      We learn the French literature every Monday.
      I like Chinese food.

3. Size adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกขนาด เช่น
            long ยาว short สั้น
            thin ผอม fat อ้วน
            wide แข็งแรง narrow แคบ
            big ใหญ่ small เล็ก
      Tom is a tall, thin man.

4. Color adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกสี เช่น
            white ขาว black ดำ
            red แดง yellow เหลือง
      She wears a blue dress.
      I like red shirts.
5. Possessive adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกความเป็นเจ้าของ เช่น
            my his her his
      It is my pen.
      They are our books.
6. Demonstrative adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่ระบุแน่นอน เช่น
            This That These Those
      This table is very big.

7. Ordinal number คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกลำดับที่ เช่น
            first second third fourth
      Jack is the first child.

8. Cardinal number คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกจำนวนปริมาณที่แน่นอน เช่น
            one two three four
      She has three sons.

9. Quantitative adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ที่บอกจำนวนปริมาณที่ไม่แน่นอน เช่น
            some, any บ้าง much, many มาก
            little, few น้อย no ไม่มีเลย
      I have some coffee.

ตำแหน่งของ Adjectives ในประโยค ได้แก่
1. หลัง V. to be เช่น

   Alex is handsome.

   I am beautiful.

2. หน้าคำนาม เช่น

I love eating red apples.

3. วางไว้หลังคำกริยาที่แสดงการรับรู้ เช่น

         look (ดู) Sam looks happy.

         taste (มีรส) This coffee tastes sweet.

         feel (รู้สึก) I feel better.

         keep (รักษา) Please keep quiet.

         seem (ดูเหมือนว่า) Billy seems exciting.

         smell (มีกลิ่น) The roses smell good..

         get (ได้รับ) Tom gets smart.

         sound (มีเสียง) Jennifer sounds sweet. 4. วางไว้หลังวลีที่บอก อายุ ความสูง ความยาว และบอกขนาดอื่น ๆ ได้แก่

   old (อายุ) tall (สูง) wide (กว้าง) long (ยาว) etc.

         Amp is ten years old.

         Ken Watanabe is 6 feet tall.

         The hotel is 20 meters high.

         The ruler is 12 inches long.
